Find the winning move

Chess960 puzzle trainer

Free tactics from real Fischer Random games. Click or drag to move; every solution is engine-verified, so the win is always genuinely there.

Where the puzzles come from

Each position is a real Chess960 game at the moment somebody blundered, found and checked in two passes:

  • Pass one scans games for the move where the evaluation collapses.
  • Pass two re-analyses with multiple candidate lines to prove the punishment is unique, forcing, and still there at greater depth.

Only survivors ship, so you are never asked to find a move that is merely good. No public Chess960 puzzle set exists. The major sites' trainers cover standard chess only, so these were mined for this.

Why Chess960 tactics are harder

The pieces are identical but the shapes are not. A bishop on b1 and a rook on a1 make patterns your eye has never filed, so you have to calculate what you would normally recognise. That is the skill that transfers back to every game you play.
